Green Light International Trust
About Us
The Green Light International Trust (GLIT) is a non-profit organization dedicated to uplifting underprivileged individuals within society. Established in 2005 under the leadership of Tawanda Makwiramiti, the organization is deeply committed to creating transformative opportunities for underprivileged groups through capacity building and poverty reduction efforts. GLIT utilizes a participatory approach to discern needs and develop innovative solutions to aid underprivileged individuals across all spheres, enabling their active participation in economic, social, and political activities.
Moreover, GLIT endeavors to promote sustainable development by imparting knowledge and skills. In alignment with its core objective “BRING A SMILE,” an event was convened in March 2012 with the specific purpose of enhancing the social integration of underprivileged individuals.
Tawanda Makwiramiti, the director, has long been devoted to aiding persons with disabilities and effecting positive societal change. He is renowned for his inspiring quote, “If you are disabled, do not resign yourself to victimhood. If you possess the use of one hand, do not succumb to begging; utilize it productively. Disability ought not imply inability. Waiting for aid renders you vulnerable.”
